The Town of Burnsville Seeks Public Comment
CDBG-Disaster Relief Project – East Main Street Sidewalk
The Town of Burnsville is asking for public comments on the submission of a grant application to support a sidewalk and multi-use path project described below. The application is for funds from the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) grant Commercial District Revitalization program.
The proposed project consists of the construction of approximately 3,500 feet of sidewalk along East Main Street from Longview Drive to Hunter Street, as well as a section along Pensacola Road. The project will connect to the existing sidewalk system completing a pedestrian loop around Burnsville and creating a much needed safe and walkable route to local businesses, services and community destinations.
To support this project, the application will request a total of $5,111,664.58 in CDBG-DR funding. The project will benefit the entire Town of Burnsville, which has a low- to moderate-income population percentage of 54.5%, by providing accessibility through alternate forms of transportation to a commercial area of Town that includes essential services such as grocery, pharmacy, laundry, and other businesses.
All interested parties are invited to submit comments to publiccomment@townofburnsville.org. The deadline for submitting comments is 4:00 pm on Monday July 27, 2026.
A copy of the project description may be requested by contacting Heather Hockaday at Burnsville Town Hall of at hhockaday@townofburnsville.org.
