Yancey County COVID-19 Response Fund Grant Application Now Available

For Immediate Release 8 April 2020  

The Yancey Advancement Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) Community Development Non-Profit affiliated with the Yancey County Economic Development Commission, has approved and released the application form and application guidelines for nonprofits who wish to apply for grant assistance through the “Yancey County COVID-19 Response Fund”.  Administered by the Yancey Advancement Foundation, Inc. in collaboration with Yancey County Government and other local government and community stakeholders to help non-profits in our county who work to respond to community needs which have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic  and the community response to the crisis. The fund will assist our important community non-profits to secure the resources they need to serve the most vulnerable members of the community during this difficult time.

To nonprofits interested in applying for grant assistance from the Yancey County COVID-19 Response Fund:   

You may access the application form to request financial assistance with your organization’s response to the COVID-19 crisis by visiting www.yanceycountync.gov and accessing the grant application online.  Please complete the entire form as directed and return the completed form, along with scanned digital copies of the requested supporting documentation for your organization, to Jamie.McMahan@yanceycountync.gov.     

As an alternative to submitting the form electronically, applicants may submit their completed grant application via mail addressed as follows:

Important guidelines to remember regarding grants made from the Yancey County COVID-19 Response Fund:

   *Grants awarded may only be spent to assist with the cost of purchase and acquisition of materials or resources.  Grant dollars will not be awarded to cover the expense of salary or personnel costs.      
   *Grants will only be awarded for programs directly responding to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis only, not to assist with routine programs or operations conducted by the applicant which do not provide a direct response to the health crisis.      
   *Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis depending on the availability of dollars in the Response Fund at any given time.  Applications will be reviewed and approved or denied by the Yancey Advancement Foundation Board of Directors.  For purposes of reviewing grant submissions, the YAF Board will meet on a bi-weekly schedule beginning on April 20, 2020.        
   *There is no deadline for grant applications.  Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis, depending on the availability of funds available at any given time and pending grant applications.

To members of the public interested in contributing to the community relief effort through Yancey County COVID-19 Response Fund:

All donations made to the Yancey County Covid-19 Response Fund are 100% tax deductible and 100% of all donations will be spent to combat the worsening challenges posed to our community during this difficult time.

All individuals or businesses who wish to partner in this effort may contribute to the fund in the following ways:

  ·    By mailing a check made payable to the Yancey Advancement Foundation, Inc. to PO Box 246, Burnsville, NC 28714 with “COVID-19 Response Fund” noted on the memo line of the check
