“The State of Emergency declared by the Yancey County Commissioners is simply a proactive approach to assist county officials in their efforts to mitigate the virus. This Declaration does not mean there are confirmed cases (presumptive or confirmed) in Yancey County. Likewise, it does not indicate the need to begin or continue to stockpile food, cleaning supplies, paper goods, etc…. There is no national shortage of toilet paper or hand sanitizer. Even if the grocery stores run out, they will get more.” Jeff Howell Emergency Services Director
