WKYK reporting a “Planned Power Interruption” Sept. 25th at 1am.

Duke Energy is de-energizing their transmission line from Asheville to Cane River transmission station.  This planned power outage will occur over night tonight, beginning at 1am Wednesday, September 25th.

The interruption of service is expected to last about 30 minutes. Duke is changing out a wire and has to have the high voltage line de-energized to do so. This will create a short power outage for almost everyone in Yancey County and everyone in Mitchell County. It will also cause a short outage for French Broad Customers in Tennessee as well as the Bald Mountain area.
