The Burnsville Town Council invites applications from those interested in serving on the Burnsville Board of Adjustment (BOA) to conduct, hear and decided quasi-judicial matters arising from matters involving the Burnsville Zoning Ordinance.

Members for this Board must be full time residents of the Town of Burnsville.
The 5 member Board of Adjustment conducts quasi-judicial hearings for the following issues:

  1. Appeals from administrative decisions interpreting the Town’s Zoning Ordinance provisions;
  2. Variance applications

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT APPLICATION

-The BOA meets quarterly, special meetings may be necessary from time to time to meet deadlines or
continue hearings.
-BOA members serve 3 year terms and are compensated for each meeting attended to conduct the business of the Board and
for attendance at trainings. The compensation rate is $150.00 for each meeting or training attended.
Members are not compensated for meetings that are canceled due to no agenda items.
-A person does not have to be an attorney or member of the judiciary to sit on this board; however,
knowledge and familiarity with court proceedings, procedures and etiquette are important aspects of
this service since the decisions being made are legal ruling subject to appeal to the Superior Court.
