Town of Burnsville Update

October 7, 2024

Water and Sewer Systems
Crews are setting temporary pumps and line up to the water plant.

With help from local contractors, repairs are being made to known breaks in the distribution system. As water is treated the system will have to be brought back online slowly in phases as breaks are identified and repaired. Once reestablished the water must be boiled until the system can be flushed and sanitized. The water will still be usable for showering and flushing toilets.

Crews are on site conducting camera work of the sewer lines, identifying breaks for repair. Port-a-Johns are also beginning to arrive.

Garbage
Burnsville Residential trash pick-up will happen for most homes on Monday (10/7) and again on Friday (10/11).

East Yancey and Riverside Convenience Centers will be open from 7am to 4pm beginning Monday (10/7).  Only household bagged trash will be accepted at this time. The landfill remains closed to the public. Yancey County is actively working on a plan for disposal of construction/storm debris and will provide updates as those details become available. DO NOT BURN GARBAGE OR DEBRIS.

Water
Potable water trucks are set up on the Town Square to fill containers.
