Town of Burnsville Update
October 24, 2024

Water and Sewer Systems
The Boiled Water Advisory has been rescinded for customers that have had water restored. About 95% of water customers have had service return but there are still outages in Micaville and west of the Cane River. Public Works crews and contractors continue the laborious task of locating breaks in the distribution lines and making repairs to get the water back on for every customer. We are still asking all water customers to be conservative with water where they can.

The Pine Swamp Wastewater Treatment Plant is now fully operational.

Garbage
Burnsville residential trash pick-up is on the regular schedule. There will be no recycling pick-up until further notice.

Food and Supplies
The main Point of Distribution is the former Fred’s store, where supplies can be picked up or donated. Open from 9am – 4pm.

Helene Relief Call Center
The Yancey County Call Center will serve as the primary point of contact for community members seeking assistance, information, and connecting them with the necessary resources. Call (828) 682-1883 Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm.
